The Wedding of Jagriti and Manish
In every wedding I film, it is a pleasure and delight to see the next chapter of the couple’s life unfolding. However, with the wonderful wedding of Jagriti and Manish, it was not only a chance to see their future but an opportunity to celebrate their past too.
A Waldorf Hilton London Wedding
The wedding took place in the jaw-dropping Waldorf Hilton Hotel, London. The wedding day took place in January, and despite being cold outside, the Waldorf Hilton instantly provided lightness, warmth and beauty for a mesmerising wedding. The iconic hotel, known for its incredible Palm Court (known best for being in the film Titanic) as well as its beautiful grade II listed architecture, is made for dream wedding ceremonies. The history (the hotel was built in 1908) and stylish elegance was a beautiful sight to capture as a wedding cinematographer. However, perhaps more captivating was the way Jagriti and Manish lit up their room with their warm, inviting personalities and endless smiles.
The wedding ceremony
Held around the sacred fire, the wedding ceremony was both romantic and important but playful and personalised too. Both Jagriti and Manish made their wedding day their own, and the 12th January 2019 would be a day that they’ll never forget. After the Hindu ceremony, guests enjoyed a sumptuous wedding breakfast. During which the groom, Manish, made a speech that made sure there wasn’t a dry eye left in the room. He talked about the beginning of the relationship. The couple first met through a simple meeting in a café of Marylebone High Street. However, this was no ordinary meeting as it was one that changed both of their lives for the better. The love and awe that Manish feels for his new bride captured the hearts of everyone in the room. He spoke of his wife as providing a; “Lightness and sense of happiness…full of life, full of optimism.”
He finished his heartfelt speech to Jagriti about how he’s looking forward to; “wonderful possibilities of a life with you”. After an emotional embrace, it was time for the first dance as husband and wife. The crowds circled the happy couple. As a wedding cinematographer, it is important for me to get the prime position but also to blend into the background, so I don’t get noticed. However, Manish and Jagriti only had eyes for each other so there was no chance that I’d be getting in the way. It was a complete pleasure to create a wedding film for the loveliest couple, Jagriti and Manish. Furthermore, I am grateful to the wedding photographers, Meyer and Rene, for recommending me to film to the wedding day. It was a pleasure to explore the iconic Waldorf Hilton Hotel and a delight to get to know the happy couple and imprint their wedding day into a beautiful wedding video.
