Sikh wedding cinematographer London – Davi and Hurjus
No stone was left unturned in Davi and Hurjus’ quest for a perfect wedding. The result was a spectacular day full of colour, love, romance, and joy. There was so much detail and action so I was incredibly grateful to have Aleksandra as my second shooter. She did an amazing job filming the emotion and significance of tradition as Davi prepared himself as a groom.
The Sikh culture is rich with wedding tradition, not all of which is acknowledged in modern Sikh weddings. It was therefore a great pleasure to provide the wedding videography not only for the wedding day but also for and Davi and Hurjus’ Maiya ceremonies. Maiya is a lively and cheerful event where the respective families of the bride and groom coat their arms, legs, and face with a paste made from turmeric powder and mustard oil. It was historically done as part of the beauty preparations for the bride and groom, but its contemporary significance is more about involving family and friends in the celebrations.
Their traditional Sikh marriage ceremony took place at the Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in Slough. It was difficult for this happy couple to refrain from smiling too much at the solemn occasion, and their joy at finally getting married is evident in their wedding film.
Following on from the ceremony, we made great use of the wonderful gardens at the Savill Court Hotel in Egham as a backdrop for the outdoor wedding video and photographs. As with most weddings, the atmosphere around Davi and Hurjus was one of relief that they had successfully cleared the main hurdle were now married, and excitement that they could relax and enjoy the party they had spent so much time planning.
For the reception, Hurjus changed from her magnificent red and gold bridal attire into a gorgeous fitted white lace wedding gown while Davi swapped his Sherwani for an elegant dinner suit. The couple made their way into a beautifully decorated ballroom resplendent with a glittering chandelier and dozens of candles and fairy lights. The effect was magical.
A happy evening followed punctuated by food, speeches, laughter and dancing. It was a fantastic start to what I hope will be many happy days and nights for the newlyweds.
